Messy Monday: Fine-Tune Your Feed
Because everything you're taking in is either tuning your spirit or tossing it off-key.
This Weekend Woke Me Up
I didn’t know how much I needed this past weekend until I showed up for it. I went to a local women’s conference called Lavished—and let me just say, it poured into me in ways I didn’t know I was running dry. I bought my ticket almost a year ago, and as the date got closer, I kept debating if I was even going to go. My introvert tendencies were fighting for their life. But I’m so glad I pressed through. The atmosphere, the women, the worship, the Word—whew. It was truly divine alignment.
One of the most powerful moments came during a Q&A session. Someone asked a question about balance—how to juggle work, family, ministry, self-care, all of it. The speaker’s answer stopped me in my tracks. Her response: "Balance just isn't a word that's helping me anymore."
That. Hit. Me.
She didn’t say harmony—but immediately my spirit made the leap. That’s what I’ve been trying to say. This series is all about that very shift. For me, the pursuit isn’t balance, it’s harmony. Harmony doesn’t mean every part of life is equal… it means every part is in tune.
And listen, if balance works for you, please don’t toss it out because of this post. But that word harmony? It hit me in the chest. That’s what I’ve been trying to say. That’s what this whole series is about. Harmony means everything isn’t equal, but everything is working together for a greater sound. And when I think about harmony, I can’t help but think about tuning.
Scripture to Stand On
Philippians 4:8 (CSB)
“Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things.”
Let’s break this down:
This verse isn’t just a cute quote for your journal. It’s a filter. Paul is literally giving us a tuning fork for our lives. If it’s not true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, or praiseworthy—it’s out of tune. It’s static in the background of your spirit. It’s pulling you out of alignment with what God is doing in you. So if your life is sounding off lately… maybe it’s time to check what you’ve been dwelling on.
Let’s Talk Feeds (All of Them)
That brings me to your feeds. Yes, I’m talking social media—but also your conversations, your environments, your habits, and even your thoughts. I realized this weekend that part of my harmony is learning how to fine-tune what I’m feeding on—online and offline.
One thing I love about Facebook (don’t judge me) is the option to pause, snooze, mute, or unfollow. That’s spiritual wisdom, y’all. I don’t need gossip, comparison, or constant chaos in my feed. And the same is true in real life. Some invitations don’t need a yes. Some group chats need a mute. Some thought patterns need to be taken captive and replaced with truth.
So, friend… how’s your feed sounding lately?
10-Minute Tune-In: Let’s Practice
This week, take 10 intentional minutes to fine-tune your feed:
Pause: What’s one thing you’ve been taking in that feels like noise? Just press pause on it this week—be it a TV show, an account, a conversation, or even your own self-talk.
Snooze: Who or what do you need to snooze—not permanently cut off—but gently give some space so your spirit can breathe?
Mute: What’s been shouting in your soul that doesn’t deserve that volume? Mute it. Not everything gets to speak into your spirit.
Follow: Now turn up what brings peace. Follow pages that inspire. Read books that build. Be around people that stretch and pour into you. Let your inner algorithm be Spirit-led.
Closing Note from My Heart
You were never meant to live on static. God designed your life to move in harmony with His Spirit. If something feels dissonant right now, maybe it’s not a full reset you need—but just a little fine-tuning. You can do that today.
So don’t be afraid to unfollow what’s draining you. Don’t be afraid to tune into what’s calling you higher.
You’re not offbeat—you’re just being refined.
